Alie Alkins

Varsity Head Coach

Coach Alkins is entering her 2nd season as the Varsity Head Coach.  She served as a Varsity Assistant Coach at Garnet Valley for two years and then took over as the Varsity Head Coach for the 2018/19 season.

Coach Alkins was a member of several softball teams early in her career. She played for Aston AA, Delco Diamonds, Chaos, Northley, Sun Valley, Appco Dukes and went on to play collegiate softball at Widener University. At Sun Valley she was named to the distinguished honor roll, 1st Team All-Delco, 1st Team All-Chestmont, and First Team All-State all four years of high school. In 2012 she was awarded with All-State Player of the Year, the Delaware County Chapter Sports Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete, Aggie Stegmuller Outstanding Scholar Athlete, Aston Sports Hall of Fame Honoree, Ray Withhelder Memorial Scholarship recipient, American Legion Post 926 Scholar Recipient also while playing varsity basketball throughout her high school career.

 

After graduating, she committed to play shortstop at Widener University. She was among a group of students who were selected on the Presidential List of Scholars from 2012-2016 academic years. She was named to the Academic All-Middle Atlantic Conference Team in 2013, 2014, and 2015;NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete 2013, 2014, and 2015; Middle Atlantic Conference Academic Honor Roll Team 2013, 2014, and 2015; Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team 2014, 2015, and 2016; played for collegiate Team USA for American International Sports Team on an Italy Tour in 2014; was the Widener Female Athlete of the Year 2015; first ever Capital One Academic All American in Widener Softball School History named in 2015 and 2016; Widener Faculty Scholarship; Class of 1994 Scholarship; Blue and Gold Highest GPA Female Student-Athlete Award May 2016; Undergraduate Teacher Education Award; George and Sis Hansell Scholar-Athlete Award; and was named the Class of 2016 Valedictorian. Her career batting average was .393 with 176 hits, 52 for extra bases, and 89 runs batted in. She graduated from Widener with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. Alie recently completed her Master’s Degree in Special Education with a concentration in Assistive Technology, and she is now a Special Education Teacher at Bethel Springs Elementary School in the Garnet Valley School District teaching life skills and autistic support.

Mark Clark

Varsity Assistant Coach

Coach Clark is entering his second season as the Varsity Assitant Coach.

Coach Clark has been teaching for 13 years.  Prior to teaching he worked in finance, primarily with mutual funds.  Coach Clark has been coaching boys and girls high school sports for many years.  At Garnet Valley he has been the girls varsity volleyball head coach for the last 8 seasons and served as an assistant coach for girls varsity lacrosse for 1 season.  At Penncrest he served as the girls varsity volleyball head coach for 5 seasons, and was the girls JV volleyball coach for 2 seasons.  At Haverford, he was the junior varsity coach for boys volleyball for 2 seasons. 

 

Coach Clark has a Bachelors of Science in Accounting from Neumann University and played 3 years of baseball at Neumann.  Since obtaining his undergraduate degree he has received his Business Education Certification from Gwynedd Mercy University; his Masters in Education (Social & Emotional Learning) from Neumann University, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Education (Principal Leadership & Administration). 

Michele Dadario

JV Head Coach

Michele Dadario is in her fourth season as the JV head coach. Michele previously coached the 7th grade softball team at GVMS. Coach Dadario played softball at Upper Darby High School. She attended West Chester University and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice and Social Work. After working in the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office and as an Adult Probation/Parole Officer, Michele returned to West Chester University to get a teaching certification in Elementary Education. She taught kindergarten for two years in the Upper Darby School District then moved into administration. She was the Director at Life Discovery School in Springfield, PA for 5 years. After the birth of her youngest son, Michele spent 7 years at home being a wife and mom to her husband and their 3 boys.

 

Coach Dadario is happy to be a part of the GV Softball Community and is excited to see what the future holds for the Jags this season.

 

She is currently a third-year permanent building sub at Garnet Valley Middle School.

John Politano

JV B Head Coach

Coach Politano has coached JV softball for 5 years and has been teaching biology at Garnet Valley High School for 16 years.  He has also coached freshman football at Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia.  He graduated from USciences in 2000 with a degree in physical therapy, and was a licensed physical therapist throughout the Crozer-Keystone Health System.  Coach Politano currently lives in Havertown with his wife and two kids and coaches his son Benny’s little league team at Hilltop in Havertown.
